More dates will be available for the:
INSTRUCTOR BEGINNER or the INSTRUCTOR INTERMEDIATE
If you are interested in taking either one of these courses, please contact Lindsay Struthers. She will give you all the details and names of instructors willing to teach a class in your area.

Coaching
There are two sections to "Coaching", in our present system.
Coaching the Instructor
The first one is trying to get people qualified to instruct our archers through a consistent method of teaching. The FCA has adopted the NCCP system, and the ATAA has followed this. Recently there were major changes to the Level one course. The ATAA sent two people to become instructors, Jude Hooey, who has now left the Association, and Larry Kelly who is not prepared to conduct courses until later this winter. This leaves us with a delay in qualifying people.
When I replaced Jude Hooey as Coaching Coordinator, I tried to find out as much as possible about the new system, so as to be able to provide courses. This has been difficult due to summer holidays and the picture is not clear yet. I also need to take a refresher course to instruct this system. We need coaches at all levels, especially at Level 3. Any level 2 coach (especially women) should strongly consider trying to get their level 3certification as we need a level 3 coach for the 2007 Canada Games.
Coaching the Shooter
The second area of coaching is the sharing of information with our archers to improve their skills in the sport, as well as answering the questions they have about the various components of archery, such as form, physical and mental training, equipment concerns and nutrition. This can be done by coaches, fellow archers, parents, or through communication by email, telephone or video. If possible, archers can send me a video of their shooting for analysis.
I feel that I can help archers with these concerns and questions. You can contact me by Email (click provided at the top of the page) - I am looking forward to hearing from you.
