National Shoots Supported by the ATAA
National Shoots Supported and/or Recognized by the ATAA
Any club in the province can place bids on the National outdoor Tournaments. Bids have to sent to be sent to the FCA office along with a provincial letter indicating the ATAA support. To find out more please contact the national office. As there is a fair amount of logistics to the outdoor events.
Canadian Indoor Target Championships, a.k.a Regionals: Held the first weekend in March, clubs have the choice of holding it either on the Saturday or Sunday. Any number of clubs in the province can be a shoot site. In 2000, Taber, Calgary and Sherwood Park were shooting sites for regionals. Clubs are asked by the FCA co-ordinator to submit their site to the FCA submit by February 1. On the day of the shoot, clubs collect fees charged by FCA plus forward a summary of results to the FCA co-ordinator (usually has to be in by 7:00pm). The club then forwards one copy of the score cards and the fees collected to the FCA. FITA rules are used and a provincial judge/(s) must be present.
Canadian Outdoor Target Championships: Held in August and consists FITA and Field shooting. In total there are 4 events that are available to shoot:
- 2 FITA’s over 4 days
- 2 FITA’s over 2 days
- 2 field rounds over 2 days
- Olympic round (match play elimination event shot at the Olympics)
For logistics the host clubs do not allow archers that choose option 1 to shoot field, if they want to shoot field they have to choose option 2. Also to compete in option 4 the archer has to have shot in option 1 or 2 as this will determine their placing in the match play event. FITA rules are used.
Archers attending the nationals receive some funding and a provincial shirt. No funding is provided if nationals are held in Alberta.
Canadian 3D Championships: Held on the long weekend in August. The event consists of 4 rounds of 20 targets.
- Day one: registration and round 1
- Day two: rounds 2 and 3 are shot and a banquet
- Day three: 4th round, Grande prix round (top 10 archers in male and female shoot off), awards
FCA 3D rules are used. ATAA is looking into funding for the 3D nationals.
